Gavin resides in Horton with his wife and their two daughters and son. He is a native of Los Angeles California. After beginning college at Cal Poly Pomona, he transferred to the University of Alabama. In Tuscaloosa, Gavin graduated with a science degree in athletic training and the intention of attending medical school. At the last minute he decided to change his plan and become a teacher and coach. Gavin received a master's degree in education from Argosy University in California and began teaching in Tuscaloosa.
