Boaz City Schools works to provide a unified and comprehensive system of learning supports that address barriers to learning and teaching to ensure that students are engaged and even re-engaged in learning.
Along the road to success, there are many barriers that interfere with ensuring that all students have an opportunity to succeed at school. Examples of barriers to learning include some of the following, but are not limited to them: high absenteeism, missing prerequisite skills, low self-esteem, health problems, unacceptable behavior, truancy, lack of motivation, varying learning rates, discipline referrals, limited engagement or sense of belonging, and different learning styles.
All children can learn, but they learn differently. For those who do experience barriers to learning and teaching, a fully developed learning supports component is needed with strategies to address those factors and re-engate the student in classroom instruction.
