  • What is the minimum and maximum amounts that can be requested through the grant application?

    The Foundation has not established a minimum amount; however, the maximum, at this time, is limited to $400.00 dollars.

  • Are signatures required?

    Yes. All grant applications must contain the signature of the contact person as well as the school principal.

  • Are there any expenses this grant will not cover?

    Yes. Foundation money cannot be used to fund any activity/program which can be legally funded by the School System’s operating fund. This could include, but not be limited to: technology upgrades, software packages, or computer hardware requests, monetary awards for students, school system provided textbooks, materials, and computers, workshop or professional development fees, or stipends for school employees activities outside of school hours.

  • When will the grant decision be made?

    Notification of grant funding will be made by the Superintendent or your school's P.I.R.A.T.E. Foundation representative within one week of submission to the Boaz City School System Central Office.

  • How is the Grant Approved?

    The grant application will be reviewed by the Superintendent to ensure the request cannot be funded as part of the normal school budget. The grant will then be submitted to the Board of Directors for review.

  • What expenses can be requested by the Grant?

    Grant funds may be used for the following:materials and supplies that cannot be acquired by any other means such as those normally funded by the Boaz City School System, books and audio-visual materials, local/or regional field trips, or honoraria for experts who work with or talk to students.
