The Boaz City School System is committed to providing a school environment that promotes and protects children's health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. The Wellness Committee helps to promote and develop the Wellness Policy for Boaz City Schools. If you are interested in serving on the BCSS Wellness Committee, please complete this interest form. The intent of the Boaz City School System is to provide each student with the opportunity to eat a
healthy breakfast and lunch each day at school. It is also the intent of the Boaz City School System to
comply with all federal and state regulations. Due to federal guidelines, the Child Nutrition Program
cannot incur bad debt from unpaid meal charges. Due to the Boaz City School System participating in the
USDA Community Eligibility Provision, each student will be able to receive one reimbursable breakfast
meal and one reimbursable lunch meal each school day at no cost. Students will not be allowed to borrow
for a second meal or alacarte items. Therefore, there should be no bad debt to occur in our system. Adults
will also not be allowed to borrow for meals or alacarte items.

All returned checks received by the BCSS Child Nutrition Program will be sent to a third party check
recovery company. The bank used by the BCSS CNP will automatically contact the third party company
when a check is determined to be returned due to “insufficient funds” or “closed account.” The company
will handle the collection of funds. Parents/Guardians will deal directly with the company when a check
is returned.
