Mrs. Misty Sumners

Mrs. Sumners is the instructional assistant principal at Boaz High School. She also serves as the AP (Advanced Placement) Coordinator, 504 Coordinator, summer school administrator, and one of the building test coordinators for student assessment at BHS. Mrs. Sumners has had the opportunity to teach and work in all five of our schools in the Boaz City School System. She has seen students begin in kindergarten and knows what skills are required to help them be successful graduates ready for college and/or career. Before Mrs. Sumners began as the instructional assistant principal, she was a special education teacher and the Eligibility/IEP Coordinator and Educational Diagnostician in the special education department for Boaz City Schools. Mrs. Sumners is a graduate of Crossville High School. She continued her education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Collaborative Education from Jacksonville State University in 2001, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama in 2004, and completing her Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from Jacksonville State University in August 2016. Mrs. Sumners is also a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Exceptional Needs Specialist/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood.

Mrs. Sumners and her husband Andy have 2 children, Noah and Maggie. Noah is in the 10th grade at Boaz High School and Maggie is in the 9th grade at Boaz High School. Mrs. Sumners and her family live on a farm and raise South Poll cattle. They also have 2 poultry houses.

Mrs. Sumners is a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Boaz.
