Dr. Lisa Barfield

Dr. Lisa Barfield has joined the amazing team at Boaz Middle School as the new interim principal.  Dr. Barfield was born and raised in Pascagoula, MS, but has spent the last 30 years in Meridian, MS where she was an elementary teacher, assistant principal, and principal, including Director of Meridian's Career and Technical Center.  

After retiring from Meridian Public Schools in 2012, Dr. Barfield was an educational consultant for the state as well as an adjunct professor at Mississippi State University, Meridian Campus.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of Southern Mississippi and her Master's and Doctorate of Education from Mississippi State University.  

She and her husband, Shayne, have two beautiful children, Emily and Bradley, as well as two English Bulldogs, Stella and Jackson. Emily is a CCCU nurse at UAB and Bradley is a sophomore at Mississippi State University majoring in Aerospace Engineering.  He also serves his country as an Airman in the Guard.

Dr. Barfield has always believed that every child deserves the best teachers and the best learning environment in order to be happy AND successful. She has spent her career ensuring that these factors are in place for all students.  Additionally, she knows the importance of the role parents play in their child's success and works diligently to create an atmosphere where parents always feel welcome, heard, and understood.
